Ebensee-Traunkirchen

On a windy day when the ski lifts were not in operation I decided to take a walk from Ebensee to Traunkirchen. It used to be a motor road, but now it is only used by pedestrians and bikers, and the trains and cars go through the tunnel. So, those who travel by car nowadays do not have a chance to meet the nice lion. I heard a story about this lion. The sculpturer who created it forgot to put a tongue into its mouth and committed suicide because he though it was a shame… I wonder if this legend comes from a real story. The lion actually looks very nice, and as you go around it, it seems that it changes the way it sits… which cannot be true because it is a lion statue, not a real lion…The church on the hill looks beautiful and when you look at it through the branches of the trees it looks like an illustration to the Sleeping Beauty the way I imagine the scenery… The monastery with the Fisherman’s altar and several other altars is at the foot of the hill. The altars are all very impressive.
