Dachstein / Krippenstein

The karts on the Krippenstein look like another planet in summer. In winter the whole area feels like the White Silence. In windly weather in the whiteout you will easily believe in all the legends and myths about the Dachstein and Krippenstein.
Summer is a good season for hiking and studying karts. There are routes which you can cover in one day. There are longer routes which would require staying overnight in one of the huts.
In winter you can take the Upper Austria's longest 11 km slope to the valley or challenge yourself with one of the numerous off-piste opportunities. Preferably with a giude knowing the area as there are a lot of deep holes covered with snow, and with the safety equipment. The access is by the cablecar lift from Obertraun.
If later someone asks you to imagine an uncrowded place, you will immediately remember the karsts of the Dachstein plato.
